Exotic stunner Joan Smalls is one of my favorite models of the moment.
She’s made her mark on the pages of some of the biggest fashion publications – such as Vogue (including their international editions) and W - and has walked the runways of pretty much every major designer you could think of. At only 24, she’s the face of both Gucci and Estee Lauder, and has walked in the infamous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – she is also now one of the biggest presences in the newest Chanel ad campaigns. *sigh* girl is living the dream.
I’m a fan of Smalls on & off the runway. Her half black and half Puerto Rican roots make her breathtakingly exotic – bringing a fresh face to the catwalk that definitely rivals Chanel Iman. I love her effortless looks when seen in her downtime as a M.O.D (model-off-duty, of course): simple but eye-catching. I like how she made an all-black outfit (seen at the bottom left of the collage) interesting with the help of accessories – like the rose gold studs on the bottom of her Alexander Wang handbag and those space-age booties. She makes a difficult-to-pull-off look – like her leather-shouldered dress (top of collage) – look easy to wear. And those cheekbones? If only we all could be so genetically blessed! I definitely think her career is going to skyrocket to household-name status in no time.
