After doing the top five Lebron 9’s, it’s time for me to break down the five best color ways of the KD IV’s.
Nerf’s – The concept of this color way was ridiculously spectacular, and the box complimented the sneakers perfectly. This was probably the most hyped KD IV released and it’s still going for ridiculous prices online. The colors blended greatly together and delivered one of the better looking sneakers of the year.
Weatherman’s – One of the better concepts of this sneaker – it was executed perfectly. Running with the Weatherman idea, the shoe featured very graphic weather schemes similar to a Doppler radar. Easily one of his best sneakers of all-time. The concept came out by Kevin Durant’s dream of being a weatherman earlier in life before he made it big in the NBA.
Pink Pearl’s – This sneaker truly meant something to Kevin Durant as it was dedicated to his Aunt Pearl; it surely was a genuine gesture on Kevin’s part. Once again we see just how humble and down to earth he is with this special color way. This is easily my favorite pair of the IV’s honestly. Think Pink, people!
All Star’s – We all knew that KD would most likely dominate the All Star game, and since he took home the MVP award, it’s safe to say that he did. He also was amongst the best styled players on the court, as he wore one of the better pairs of sneakers amongst his fellow All-Star teammates. The silver base with a bit of orange proved to a masterpiece, finished over with glow in the dark soles.
Year of the Dragon’s – Although KD was slayed by Lebron and the Miami Heat in the Finals, he definitely came out on top with his special edition, Chinese-inspired Year of the Dragon shoe. The blue/orange combination is always a winner, but the dragon-scale strap (now a standard option on his NikeID shoes) and the intricate details on the shoe’s interior are what really drew my eye to this pair. They put a lot of work into this shoe – his KD logo was laser-etched and surrounded by a dragon. If you haven’t seen this pair in more detail, you’re missing out.
Honorable mentions: Christmas Day’s, Black History Month’s, Easter’s & N7’s
