Despite her recent less-than-perfect reputation in the media, Twilight star Kristen Stewart has become the new face of luxury brand Balenciaga’s newest fragrance, Florabotanica.
Nicolas Ghesquière hand-picked Stewart to be the face of the fragrance (pre-scandal), as Stewart is a huge supporter of the fashion house both on the red carpet and front-row at Fashion Week shows. The Florabotanica ad features Stewart wearing a Balenciaga creation, minimal makeup, and her typical aloof expression.
The execution of the ad itself is just okay in my opinion; the ad’s background is so overwhelming that tiny Stewart and her beautiful Balenciaga dress almost slip out of view.
To me, Kristen Stewart is an odd choice for a brand’s spokeswoman, but then again her star power and influence do carry weight with a large, cash-carrying audience. She isn’t exactly a fashion icon at this point in her career, but maybe we’ll see a best-dressed-list worthy Stewart as a result of this partnership.
The fragrance is set to drop in October.
