Turbans have been seen on some of the most fashion-conscious celebrities, but do you think the swag is right?
Let me start off by saying that I am NOT referring to or calling into question hijabs or headscarves of any kind worn for religious reasons – I’m talking about headscarves/turban-style headbands worn for fashion purposes only.
I’ve seen turbans worn that cover the whole head, as well as ones that just serve as a knotted headband – both looks are bold and definitely chic. I’d consider myself a fan of the turban trend – I think they add an element of sophistication and individuality to an outfit, and they’re a really great way to keep you warm in the winter.
However, I definitely think the style is not flattering on everyone and every face shape – it’s an item you have to try on, not one you just begin systematically adding to your online shopping cart. The Pitch Black Turband from NastyGal ($26) is a great inexpensive way to get your hands on the trend – check major department stores like Bloomingdales and Barneys New York, as well as online retailers like ShopBop, who’ll be stocking them in no time.
