Nike’s Special Packaging

by on November 2, 2012

Over time I noticed the change in packaging of certain sneakers that have been produced by Nike but the most recent has caught my eye very much. The Nike + Sport Packs of the Lebron X have been all but normal. Everything from the large box set to the small bag that holds the sneakers, makes you wonder just what is Nike trying to do with this. It may seem a bit excessive to some, while some may see it is as another perk to the sneaker but is this just Nike’s Marketing team doing its job. In all honesty,  the special packaging just attracts the consumer more and more to actually purchase the item but what some people forget is that it’s not as if you can wear a box. I’m a bit confused by this though, one reason for this because one of the biggest sneakers of the year, The Nike Air Yeezy 2, was packaged in a regular Nike Sportswear box. Maybe it’s just Lebron who is getting the special treatment as this year has been all about him. I wish I knew the answers to these questions but one ting for sure is that the packaging has been a success thus far. The whole concept of the packaging is to sell you the idea of you purchasing a very special shoe and to truly grasp that, then everything about the shoe has to be over the top which means packaging as well. I must say that I have been impressed by what Nike has done all year long as this was one of their greatest years ever for innovation and sales. It’s because of this that I eagerly await their next big product. Sound off!
