Zara’s Handbag Game

by on November 2, 2012

Smart fashionistas know that Zara’s the place to go for  high fashion at high street prices. Don’t overlook Zara’s handbag game as I’ve been doing, because there’s several gems that you should be getting your hands on.

As I’ve said before – and as you probably already know – Zara’s great at taking luxury designer looks and making them available for much more reasonable prices, while not compromising in quality and great design. Take a look at some of my favorite handbags currently floating around Zara’s online site. I’ll give you a breakdown of why I like them below.

Some of my favorite handbags from Zara.

The Messenger Bag with Studded Handle ($69.90) – as you can see, this isn’t your typical hold-all messenger bag. The spiked handle gives the bag an edge, as does the slim silver chain. Made of polyurethane, it’s just as durable as leather but won’t get damaged in the rain like gentler fabrics.

Beaded Box Clutch ($89.90) – taking a nod from Alexander McQueen and his intricate clutches, this Zara box clutch is elegant with a dark twist. The red and black fabric make it a sophisticated choice for the holiday season. The all-black one? Another chic option.

Messenger Bag with Appliques ($129) – this bright, Western-inspired bag is a must-have. With some of the cowboy chic elements of Isabel Marant and the metal corner-bordering seen in Alexander Wang bags, this messenger bag is the definition of fashion meets function. PS: it’s made of Goat and Cow Leather – the perfect example of Zara’s commitment to quality.

Shopper with Chain Trimming ($189) – Stella McCartney’s chain detail hobo bag, anyone? Zara’s made the perfect copy at a significantly cheaper price – compare $1,145 to $189! It comes in black and a beautiful brown color (bottom right). Definitely a chic alternative to a backpack or the run-of-the-mill tote bag. The smaller bowling bag version ($169 – third level, right) is a great option for everyday, too.

Combined Fur Clutch ($89.90) – this clutch can add the perfect pop of color to any outfit; it’s also a good response to that “what’s black and white and re[a]d all over?” question. Wear it with black, blue, white, red…hmm, everything.

Quilted Bag ($89.90) – if a Chanel handbag isn’t in your near future, this is probably the best runner-up money can buy. I love the double-zip closures and the red interior; definitely something I’ll be picking up.

City Bag with Metal Detailing ($189) –  a little Mulberry, a little Alexander Wang – what’s not to love? This rich brown hue will go with every color in your wardrobe – the size is perfect for days where you need to carry a little more than your wallet and phone.

Mini Shopper Bag with Quilting Detail ($49.90) – that price has to be wrong, right?! For such an amazing, Celine-esque bag?! You read that right – $49.90! For this amazing tote! You can probably tell that I’m a little excited about this one. It’s a good size with that same rich red interior, and a great cross-body strap. Definitely another one I’ll be picking up.
