Alexander Wang is the New Creative Director of Balenciaga

by on December 1, 2012

A big congratulations to the Bay Area-bred Alexander Wang (he went to Harker, y’all! Crazy, I know), who’s set to take over as creative director of Balenciaga.

Alexander Wang – one of the biggest and most fashion forward designers of our time – is officially taking command of the Balenciaga throne next week. Nicolas Ghesquière reportedly made his official exit from the fashion house yesterday after 15 iconic years, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

WWD summed up Wang’s aesthetic well: “A designer in the sleek-and-modern fashion mold of Ghesquière, but with a streetwise edge and a tinge of Goth, Wang has become one the brightest stars of the American fashion scene with his groovy T-shirts, studded handbags and high-impact fashion shows.”

Congratulations to Alexander Wang! I look forward to seeing what he’ll do with the uber-design house of Balenciaga, and what that will mean for his personal brands.
