REVIEW: Hood By Air F/W 2013

by on February 10, 2013

Earlier today, Shayne Oliver unleashed his first fashion week official collection in partnership with Milk Studios. This show was definitely one of the most anticipated shows this week, bringing some of the industry’s most elite including Virgil Abloh, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Nicola Formichetti, Boy Child and Theophilus London. Hit the jump to see the review of the collection.

Hood By Air‘s first show was like a celestial post-apocalyptic war zone, accompanied by piercing blue lasers, ominous smoke and tribal-themed music. The collection played on the androgynous culture that surrounds it, considering that Shayne is a crucial leader in the GHE20G0TH1K subculture.  It offered an array of silhouettes and textures that many collections, mostly menswear, lack.

While most fashion shows are merely a display of the collections, Hood By Air’s show was a full-on performance. Boy Child, a performance artist, was the most exuberant and completely embodied the culture this is “Hood By Air.” Check out the video of the full show below!

Here are some Instagram pictures that sum up the show. Check them out!
