OOTW: Spring into Spring

by on February 20, 2013

In New York, spring is long overdue! After two snow blizzards and Sandy, it is time we see the sun again. When that time does come back to the east coast, where thermometers read over 70 degrees, you will have an idea what to wear. Take some style tips from this weeks Outfit of the Week and hopefully you can find something to “spring” into.

 Tops:
1.
 Tanks.

2. Bold Colors.
3.Patterns & Prints.

Tanks: When it comes to choosing a top, I say you can never go wrong with a tank. The great thing about at tank is that they are so versatile, they can be worn alone or worn underneath a tee, but the best thing about them is they are the perfect fit to go with a light jackets during a summer breeze.

Bold Colors:  When you want to make a statement the best place to start is with your shirt! Stick with a solid hue so that is is not too distracting. Choose neons or pastels. The best colors will be yellow, pink, orange, and red to name a few.

Patterns & Prints: Everyone is loving stripes now, but I’m a bit tired of the old jail-cell black and white stripes. Introduce stripes of color during the spring. Try playing it up with prints, you can never go wrong with prints!

I numbered the tops to be matched with the shorts below, so that you can get an idea for an outfit. These tops are available here: 1. American Apparel Top Yellow, Pink Zipper, 2.Gryphon NY Rugby Stripe Crew Neck Jumper, 3.(top) NICOLE FARHI Landmark Stripe Draped Silk Top, 3.(bottom) Running Wild Top – Live Clothing 4.              On a hot summer day I don’t think you can go wrong with shorts. They are fun and just as playful as shirts. The shorts are numbered to match the shirts. You have options to play up or down an outfit by the shirt. For instance, pairings 3 and 4 have to shirt options for one pair of shorts. A solid color can be paired with prints and patterns and vice versa with the printed shorts. Do not try to pair too many prints together. You don’t want to look like a mixed up jigsaw puzzle.

These shorts are available here: 1.Mint Belted Hotpants, 2. Madewell MADEWELL Lacebloom Shorts, 3. Carven Full pleat shorts, 4. Carven paisley print shorts

If your not a fan of baring too much leg, it is ok. Colored jeans and patterned pants are a perfect remedy and  give you plenty of options. The Gap is introducing the new Skimmer Jean this spring. These pants are available here: Multi coloured funky floral jeanGap 1969 Demi Panel Legging Skimmer JeansOld Navy Womens The Rockstar Printed Dot JeansGap 1969 Printed Always Skinny Skimmer Jeans

Dress your look up with some accessories. Platform sneakers are very comfortable and give just enough height when your tired of the heels. Espadrilles and wedges are also perfect for the season. Another great accessory for are hats and turbans. They are great for sprucing up an outfit or just for staying cool during the heat. Always add jewelry or a nice bag to complete the look.
