Cracking The Code With Clayborne Bujorian

by on April 25, 2013

By now the young man that goes by Clayborne Bujorian needs no introduction. He’s an ideal representation of when you mix finesse, discombobulating and creativity all together. Young Clay has methodologically made an infamous name for himself while become one of the true leaders of creating, editing and ‘discombobulating’ images. With so much going on at the moment, Clayborne offers me insight on a lot of things transpiring in his life. Only a few are given this honor so I decided to take advantage of this privilege. Today we bring to you the first of many enlightening sessions that not only aid in showcasing his talents but it shows more of a personal side as well. Enjoy the interview below and may the force be with you.

Nature1. Apparently the guys over at Revive love your work and are intrigued by your aesthetic. What do you have to say about that?

“There’s a lot I can say about the men and women of Revive. Before meeting the powerful force, each individual expressed their appreciation towards my discombobulations accordingly. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to enter the store without them knowing I was the culprit behind their most recent Instagram photographs.” – Clayborne

2. With so much work done with Revive already, is it safe to call them the ‘home team’ ? Are you open to working with other cliques that are similar to theirs?

“As welcoming and kind the crew has been, it’s not safe to call them the “home team.” At this point, it’s safe to say APEX, consisting of Reed Bennett and Asten Martin, is the closest thing to a “home team.”

I’m open to work with anyone who respects my craft as much as I respect theirs. If the situation is lop-sided, business may be disregarded. Meaning, 90% of my time and effort will not be shared with someone who’s incapable of sharing 10% of their time and effort.” – Clayborne

Green Couch III3. I’ve noticed just like everyone else that you have been named the ‘ Discombobulation God’. How do you feel about that ? Who gave you the name initially?

“I don’t believe I was named the “Discombobulation God.” Late one evening, Ian Connor tweeted “Discombobulation God.” Who else fits the title? No one.” – Clayborne

4. As of late, you’ve moved away from discombobulating and focused more on banners and things of that nature. Is this just you evolving your craft or are you just showcasing the range of it ?

“Though I have taken a break from discombobulating photographs of people, I continue to discombobulate photographs of other things. These other things consist of landscapes, minimalist architecture, and most importantly, green couches. I don’t know what I’m doing right now. According to an Instagram comment, I am “falling off” and “running out of ideas and steam.” This Instagram comment was later published as a discombobulation. If I’m not altering the perspective of a photograph, I am publishing a multitude of unnecessary Instagram photographs. These unnecessary Instagram photographs are self-satisfying and contain little-to-no meaning, whatsoever.” – Clayborne

5. Last but not least, you have kept your identity very much a secret. Why is that exactly? Will we ever get to see Clayborne Bujorian ?

“My identity is winning, in a game of Hide-&-Seek.” – Clayborne
