PFW: Givenchy Spring 2014 Collection

by on July 1, 2013

One of the most highly anticipated collections this year at Paris Fashion Week is that of Givenchy‘s Spring 2014. Since Givenchy has taken over in 2012 and 2013, we all would have been content to see the same types of designs, but this time around Tisci has unveiled yet another collection of clothing that shapes the concept of fashion.

Riccardo Tisci has continued to inspire by exploring the unlimited boundaries of fashion and art. Although Givenchy‘s Spring 14 Collection is a step forward in many ways; Tisci‘s past, like kilts and even a star sweatshirt, can still be found in the urban-tribal themed collection. The collection also makes use of a foundational striped theme, almost to blend the diverse accumulation of imagery like old audio equipment, into one whole. Another point of intrigue is Tisci’s continued use of male leggings: since Givenchy has become such an influential sensation, will they too be in our stylistic future?

An art teacher once told me not to become reliant on one style and it seems as if Tisci is heeding the same wisdom, but he thankfully didn’t abandon some of his old tricks, some of which can be found in the collection. This collection has reminded us of Riccardo Tisci‘s immense creative talent, and has yet again left everyone eager to see what he and Givenchy have next.
